Purnama Sari Balinese Performing Arts Company brings traditional dance, theater and shadow puppetry from the famed island of Bali, providing authentic cultural experience for general audiences and K-12 students. Founders Surapsari and Indra studied Balinese performing arts with acclaimed masters from Ubud, the arts capital of Bali. Since its inception in 2000, Purnama Sari has been performing, teaching workshops and master classes, and offering lectures internationally.

Purnama Sari serves a wide range of audience with age-appropriate material and entertaining skills. They offer unique arts integrated lessons and teaching artist residencies for K-12th grade, incorporating Balinese dance and theater into core academic subjects such as Social Studies and English Language Arts. Purnama Sari's school programs align with grade appropriate Sunshine State Standards and are offered with a Teacher’s Guide (including lesson plans, supplementary material and resources) and handouts. Purnama Sari also provides master classes and residencies for college students.

  • Mystical Dances of Bali (general audience)

    This is Purnama Sari's signature program that features ancient mask and classic court dances from the exotic Indonesian island. Through the performance and interactive lecture, Purnama Sari will reveal the mystery behind Balinese dance which is punctuated by otherworldly dance vocabulary and music, as well as dazzling costumes glittering in regal colors. This program offers a rare opportunity to experience authentic Balinese dance right here in Florida.

  • Mask dances of Bali (K-12)

    This program introduces K-12th grade students to the fascinating culture and arts of Bali. Not only being entertained by a presentation of unique dance masks and choreography, the students will have an opportunity to explore character traits through trial of masks and creative movement. This program promotes academic skills and knowledge in English language arts, Social studies, Theater, Music, Dance and Visual arts. Purnama Sari is available for teaching pre and post-performance lessons for additional fees. Please inquire.

  • Ramayana: Balinese Shadow Puppet Theater (K-5)

    In this educational and entertaining program, K-5th grade students are introduced to the cultures of south and southeastern Asia, through the Ramanaya, the great epic from ancient India and shadow puppet theater from Bali. This program promotes academic skills and knowledge in English language arts, Social studies, Science, Theater, Music, and Visual arts. Purnama Sari is available for teaching pre and post-performance lessons for additional fees. Please inquire.

  • Balinese Dance & Theater Master Class and Residency (high school and college level)

    These programs teach students the basics of Balinese dance and theater; stances, postures, eye movements, choreography, vocalization and acting.
